Grace House on the Mountain is a ministry center of The Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia perched on Sandy Ridge near Norton and St. Paul in Wise County, VA.

Although it has changed over the years since it started as a diocesan mission over a century ago, Grace House’s primary ministry activities include group work projects centered on helping families have safe, warm, and dry homes and outreach services for those in the surrounding community in need of assistance with essential services such as electricity, water, and medicine.

Our Ministry

Workgroups

Grace House engages in hands-on mission work in the form of lightweight construction projects in response to requests for assistance from local families. Work projects often include home repairs such as installing small ramps and decks or assisting with basic interior repairs.

We invite you to sign up your workgroup or join a work project to support neighbors in the surrounding community. All skill levels and ages are welcome, and no experience is required beyond a willing spirit and helping hands.

Outreach Program

One of Grace House’s primary ministries is providing assistance to those in need in the Wise, Dickenson, and Russell County areas. As a part of this program, the Grace House Outreach Fund is used to cover medical expenses, utilities, and other essentials.

Occasionally, the Outreach Program includes partnerships with area churches, non-profit centers, other Episcopal dioceses, and Episcopal Relief and Development to address acute needs or provide disaster response.

To apply for assistance or for more information about the Outreach Program, please contact Grace House at [email protected].
