Beloved Siblings in Christ:
We write today with great news from around the church: Bishop Elect Karin has received the requisite majority of consents from Bishops and Standing Committees in the Episcopal Church. This important milestone in the process is an affirmation of a sound election and the wise discernment of our communities that have led us to this point. This means that we can proceed to the next steps of the transition as we prepare for Bishop Elect Karin to begin her new ministry among us this summer.
Please save the date of June 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. for the Ordination and Consecration of the Seventh Bishop of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. A formal invitation with more details will be forthcoming, as well as information about other events surrounding the Ordination. The previous details about leadership and communication within the Diocese from the February 5th email (available here) remain in effect. Continue to keep Bishop Elect Karin, her family, your Standing and Transitions Committees, Diocesan staff, and all our Diocese in your prayers as we continue our Lenten journeys.
