The Rt. Rev. Karin MacPhail is the 7th Bishop of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia.
The Rev. Canon Jonathan Harris
Canon Jonathan serves as the Diocesan Transition Minister overseeing all parish transitions, interim ministries, search processes, and candidate screening and recruitment. He also serves as an extension of the Bishop’s pastoral ministry and relationship with all Diocesan clergy. Canon Jonathan provides advance engagement and preparation with parishes ahead of the Bishop’s visitation, coordinates and deploys supply clergy, oversees licensing of clergy for ministry in the Diocese, and supports Diocesan retired clergy. He also serves as the Bishop’s resource in times of parish conflict or crisis.
Jonathan lives in Roanoke with his wife Darla and son Henry and loves hiking the Appalachian Trail whenever possible.
Canon Pattie Ames
Pattie serves as the resource and support staff to the parishes for lifelong formation, with the primary focus on children’s ministry, as well as, our campus ministry, young adult, and adult formation. She is the staff person working with our Beloved Community ministries and Guiding Team. Pattie oversees Safe Church for the Diocese and is also the Intake Officer. Pattie also works with most of the boards of the Diocese, is the Secretary of Convention, and oversees most parish forms and info with the help of the administrative staff.
Pattie likes traveling around the Diocese to visit churches and learn about the history of our area. She is an avid baseball fan and has a rescue hound dog, Riley, that she enjoys walking.
Canon Jenni Faires
Jenni is the primary staff resource for congregational growth and vitality. As part of her work, Jenni leads vestry retreats, consults with church leaderships, and tracks trends in the larger church.
Jenni finds great joy in working with churches and loves to engage God’s people in thoughtful discussion, brainstorming, and visioning. When she is no working, Jenni enjoys playing pickleball, puzzles, and spending time at home with her family.
Patricia Cope-Levy
As the Youth Missioner, Patricia leads the Youth Ministry Team (YMT), a diocesan-wide leadership group made up of teenagers, grades 9-12, that plan and lead weekend events, service projects, and Youth at Convention (Y@C). She works closely with Canon Pattie Ames to provide formation resources and guidance to our parishes with youth programs.
Kristen Hester
Kristen is the Executive Assistant to the Bishop. She manages her calendar and visitation schedule and assists with diocesan committees such as Commission on Ministry and Standing Committee. Kristen is also the diocesan contact for parish CPG benefits. Contact Kristen if you wish to make an appointment with the bishop, have questions about employee health benefits, or need lay licensing.
Kristen enjoys spending time with her 4 children and her husband Matt. She is a devoted Carolina Hurricanes fan and likes to be outside in her spare time. Kristen is a proud UNC graduate though her allegiance is being tested by her oldest child who attends UVA.
Zach Bishop
Zach assists with general diocesan administration and the day-to-day operations of the Diocesan Office at Evans House including room reservations and hospitality. He is the coordinator of parish reports and assists with parish and diocesan property matters.
Zach lives in the Vinton area and enjoys playing board games, writing, and watching movies or shows with this family.
Sally Parker Willmore
Sally works on special projects for the diocese such as our diocesan journals and assisting with Convention.
In her spare time, Sally enjoys spending time with her husband and their bernedoodle, Kisses.

Anita Boyd
Grace House, located on top of Sandy Ridge near Norton and St. Paul in Wise County, is one of our diocese’s two retreat centers.
Sharon Salyer
Sharon works alongside the Grace House Director assisting with community activities, visiting local residents, and welcoming groups. She has experience working with children and adults through prior work in social services. Her hobbies include camping, crocheting, woodworking, and helping others.
